YouTube’s been on a roll lately with answering interesting questions that no one ever thought to ask.

The latest example: In a battle of tractor versus sawhorse, which one would win?

Woodworker Matthias Wandel finds out in his latest video, where he lowers the loader bucket from his tractor down on a sawhorse to test the device’s breaking point.

Wandel actually repeats the experiment with two separate sawhorses: The first is of his own design, the second was bought at a store.

I won’t post spoilers, but let’s just say that Wandel’s sawhorse does pretty well. That’s no surprise. He consistently deploys the scientific method and basic engineering principles to test his creations—as well as woodworking myths. For example, just how bad are drywall screws for woodworking? Turns out they’re actually just fine for most applications, when testing for bending and breaking points.

The Canadian woodworker actually was a former engineer at RIM, the maker of the Blackberry. His YouTube channel is filled with wooden marvels, including marble machines, DIY band saws and pipe organs. His website’s slogan? “An engineer’s approach to woodworking.”

Head over to Wandel’s site to see more of his work.
