Good Thursday morning, everyone. Sure enough, we’re back in the clouds as we get closer to wrapping up this week. Not only that, we have areas of scattered rain and t-storms to get the morning started. You can thank our next wave out in the Rocky Mountains for the returning rain.

Uppersetup

While the brunt of the upper level wave stays just to our north, it’s still strong enough to work with an approaching cold front from the northwest to keep rain chances around for the morning. The plus side to the clouds and the rain this morning is that we aren’t starting off on a cool note. It’s still chilly this morning as temperatures are in the middle to upper 50s. As we head toward lunchtime, we’ll see this first round of showers and t-storms clear out. With some peaks of the sun and a south breeze, we should be able to get into the middle 60s to start the afternoon out.

Thunoon

As long as we’re still ahead of the cold front, we’ll hold onto a south breeze at 15-25 mph for the rest of the afternoon. Even if skies stay mostly cloudy for the afternoon, we’ll see temperatures top out around 70 for afternoon highs.

Thuaftn

This evening should stay dry, but we’ll finally begin to see the cold front work in from the west. As it does, we’ll see additional rain develop during the overnight and for your Friday morning. Overnight, we’ll have temperatures drop back into the upper 50s as your Friday morning gets started.

Friam

The warmest we can go for Friday is about 60 degrees across the area, but we’ll actually hit that high late in the morning. The cold front passing through will switch our southerly wind back out of the north and bring in cooler air through the rest of the day. As the north wind kicks in behind the cold front, that will actually send us down into the 40s for Friday afternoon.

Friaftn

The front will continue to scoot off to the east as we head into Friday night and Saturday morning. That will slowly take the rain chances out of here and leave us dry after a few possible showers Saturday morning. Fortunately, we’re not expecting heavy rainfall with this round of rain and t-storms on the way. For most spots, we’ll have rain amounts at about half an inch or less by the time we start drying out Saturday morning.

Rainamounts

While the departing cold front takes the rain chances out for the rest of your Saturday, it will be a chilly day. We’ll have to start cold in the upper 30s before we can warm back up into the middle to upper 50s across the region for Saturday afternoon.

Satam

Once we get into Sunday and early next week, we’ll see temperatures trend warmer as our next storm system starts to change things up once again. We’ll be watching for additional t-storm chances on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of next week. Don’t forget that Doug’s long range forecast into the middle of June is posted below.

Have a great Thursday!

Nick
