Lake Effect Snow Warning (Extreme)

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM SATURDAY TO
1 PM EST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 8
to 14 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Snowfall rates may
reach 2 to 3 inches per hour in the most intense portion of the
band Saturday night through Sunday morning.

* WHERE...Jefferson and Lewis Counties. The greatest accumulations
are expected across southern Jefferson and far western Lewis
counties.

* WHEN...From 1 PM Saturday to 1 PM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult with deep snow cover and
roads and very poor visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be
prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 30 to 40 below.

* WHERE...Portions of central North Dakota and the James River
Valley.

* WHEN...Until 9 AM CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero could cause
frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and
gloves.
