Hang onto your hats, Redbirds, it’s going to be a windy day in central Illinois on Wednesday.

In fact, a wind advisory has been issued for the area by the National Weather Service in Lincoln. The advisory begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday and expires at midnight.

Winds between 20 and 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph are expected, the NWS said.

Central and southeast Illinois areas are included in the advisory.

The NWS warns that gusty winds could blow unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages could result.

The NWS also urges drivers to use caution, especially for those operating high-profile vehicles on east-west roads.

The region is also expected to see a band of thunderstorms roll through late Wednesday or early Thursday.
