MONTRÉAL, Oct. 30, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ – Loto-Québec’s financial results for the current fiscal year have been greatly impacted by COVID-19. The pandemic led to the suspension of nearly all of the Corporation’s business activities as of mid-March. At the end of the first half of the year, i.e. the period from April 1 to September 28, 2020, total revenues stood at $687.4M and net income was $181.2M.

The lottery, casino and gaming establishment sectors, whose activities gradually resumed during the first half of the year, saw their revenues decline due to the pandemic. Only online gaming revenues increased compared to the same period last year. The 2020-2021 annual report [in French only, PDF – 715 ko] is available on Loto-Québec’s website.

Loto-Québec had to suspend some of its activities again at the end of September and in October in regions that were on red alert. The activities affected are those of casinos and gaming halls, as well as video lottery terminals, network bingo and Kinzo.
