(CNN Español) — El empresario Álvaro Noboa anunció este sábado su intención de contender por sexta vez como candidato a la Presidencia de Ecuador en las elecciones de febrero de 2021.

Noboa, a través de un video en su cuenta de Twitter, dijo que participará para atacar la pobreza y la corrupción.

El Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE) confirmó a CNN que Álvaro Noboa presentó este sábado su documentación ante el organismo, con el fin de que se pueda validar su inscripción como candidato presidencial.

El CNE agregó que Noboa aspira a inscribir su candidatura con el apoyo del movimiento Justicia Social, que fue autorizado por el organismo electoral con un nuevo plazo para que continúe con su proceso de inscripción y calificación de candidaturas.

En CNE, hasta el momento, ha calificado a 15 binomios presidenciales, de los 17 inscritos formalmente. La elección de febrero de 2021 podría convertirse en la elección con mayor número de candidaturas de la historia de Ecuador. En Ecuador, el voto es obligatorio.
