I believe voting in America is a right and also a responsibility. I think voters are obligated to understand the issues and then decide how they will vote. I also believe we Americans generally get it right.
However, I’m getting tired of companies like Facebook and Twitter deciding that Americans are too stupid to decide what is correct and what is not. I post something that I know is factual, and they decide to say it is not true.
I’m tired of writing opinion pieces for the paper that do not get published.
I’m tired of someone else deciding certain news items should not be published. Pravda was the Soviet state-run news agency. They prohibited certain news items from being viewed by the Russian citizens. Today, I get news from Russia Today (formerly Pravda) that I cannot find in our mainstream media. For example, RT Today has stories about arsonists starting fires in California and Oregon while there are no stories covering this in our mainstream media. Who decides what we should know?
I’m tired of politicians making arbitrary rules that allow big box stores to remain open while mom and pop shops are forced to close.
I’m tired of our children not knowing what a great country we live in. The United States is not the problem; it is the solution to the world’s problems.
