(CNN Español) — El Congreso de Perú declaró este lunes la vacancia de la presidencia de la República y con ello destituye a Martín Vizcarra del cargo por considerar que incurrió en incapacidad moral.
El presidente del Congreso de Perú, Manuel Merino de Lama, asumirá la presidencia este martes.
105 congresistas votaron a favor de la vacancia, 19 en contra y 4 se abstuvieron. El número necesario para aprobar medida era 87 votos.
La moción de vacancia aprobada por el Congreso fue presentada el 20 de octubre por 27 de los 130 congresistas, luego de que una denuncia periodística del diario El Comercio diera a conocer que cuatro aspirantes a colaboradores eficaces le dijeran al fiscal Germán Juárez que Martín Vizcarra habría recibido pagos ilícitos de constructoras cuando fue gobernador de Moquegua, entre 2011 y 2014. En reiteradas ocasiones, incluyendo antes del debate de este lunes en el que también ejerció su defensa, Vizcarra ha negado las acusaciones.
Vizcarra asumió la presidencia en marzo de 2018 tras la renuncia de Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
