For those in need of plans this weekend, look no further. There's plenty to do in Bloomington-Normal, including enjoying indoor dining once again at the recently. reopened Maggie Miley's in Uptown Normal.
Don’t have any plans for the weekend? Here are five things to do in the Bloomington-Normal area.
Eat at a local restaurant
Restaurants have been opening up in door dining all across the city. After Region 2 was moved to tier 1 restaurants are being able to hold 25% capacity. After a few months of not being to go out, now is the perfect time to go and support local restaurants. Maggie Miley’s and The Pub II are two local restaurants that have finally opened back up. Remember to socially distance, where your mask and enjoy yourself.
Enjoy some Illinois State Basketball
This Friday the Women’s basketball team is taking on Evansville at Redbird Arena. The game is set to take place at 4:00 pm. Then the Men’s team is welcoming Valparaiso to Redbird Arena for two games. Both games are set to tip off at 5:00 pm, the first of the two being on Saturday and then again on Sunday. Although these are home games fans are still not allowed into Redbird Arena due to COVID-19 precautions.
You can watch these games on the Marquee Sports Network and ESPN 3, or listen to them at WJBC AM 1230 and 93.7 am.
Ice skating at Bloomington Ice Center
Bloomington Ice Center is the perfect spot to go for a nice relaxing day on the ice. Enjoy skating with family, friends or even just going solo. For $5 a person you can get in for a 30 minute time slot. You must reserve a spot via their website. Guests must follow all COVID-19 guidelines while in the building including wearing a mask at all times.
Check out Miller Park Zoo
Miller Park Zoo is a must if you have a family. Even though it is the winter they are still open and have many exhibits available for viewing. From Alligators to Tigers, there is so many animals to see at the zoo. Along with Zookeeper interaction opportunities you don’t want to miss out.
Masks are required for all over the age of 3. The zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day and costs $3 to get in and enjoy yourself.
Shop Downtown Bloomington
No plans? Check out Downtown Bloomington. With many stores around go out and enjoy yourself. There’s something for everyone, from thrift shops to antique stores you will find a store you like. Shopping locally is also a great way of giving back and helping out your community and small businesses. Follow COVID-19 guidelines and wear your mask to help keep everyone healthy and safe.
