Illinois State University was slammed with an ice storm two weeks ago. A lot of campus still remains covered in a thick layer of ice. Snowy trees frame the entrance to Williams Hall.
Late Thursday afternoon, Illinois State University sent out its’ weekly coronavirus update. The latest update includes information about Tier 1 mitigations and regulations, temporary work-at-home agreements, available on-campus study spaces, vaccine distribution and COVID-19 testing.
Since Gov. JB Pritzker announced that Region 2 will be moving to Tier 1 of the state’s COVID-19 resurgence plan, ISU will implement those changes across campus as reflected.
The changes include meetings and events being held for on-campus groups with a limitation of 25 guests or 25% overall room capacity and McAlister’s Deli and Timbers Grille in the Bone Student Center will allow indoor seating with occupancy limits.
Campus Recreation will also allow specific activities that follow appropriate guidelines and the Bowling and Billiards Center is open. Redbird Study Spaces are available in multiple classrooms across campus for students Monday through Friday. More information about Redbird Study Spaces can be found here.
ISU remains in contact with the McLean County Health Department about vaccine availability for the campus community.
According to the email, “MCHD determines when and how much vaccine the University receives” and “there is no information available from state or county officials regarding the timing of mass vaccination for the campus community” at this time.
“University employees eligible to receive the vaccine in accordance with the State’s vaccine distribution plan will receive a prenotification email at their ilstu email from Student Health Services indicating that the vaccine is expected to be received soon,” the email said.
“When the University receives the vaccine for persons in a phase, employees will be notified by email and provided instructions on how to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine. A similar process will be followed for persons receiving the second dose of the vaccine.”
