Coming off a strong performance in the two-match series sweep against Drake, Illinois State volleyball’s Sarah Kushner has received the Missouri Valley Conference’s Player of the Week Award for the first time in her career.
Kushner, a sophomore, has made a huge impact in her second year. She had a double-double in both matches against Drake, her fourth and fifth of the season. In both cases, those double-digit numbers came from kills and digs. She also played an essential role defensively both games, recording two solo blocks.
Kushner is the second Redbird to receive the MVC Player of the Week honor in 2021, after senior Kaylee Martin in the first week.
The Redbirds will return to home court this upcoming Sunday and Monday to host Valparaiso.
